1. Agreement
By downloading, installing or using YendleBox you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use it. If you use it on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you have authority to accept for that organisation. Read these together with the Privacy Policy.
YendleBox is provided by the YendleBox Development Team (“we”, “us”).
2. What YendleBox is
YendleBox is a front-end. It organises and launches software and files that are already on your computer.
- It is not an emulator and contains none.
- It contains no games, ROMs, disc images, BIOS or firmware.
- It does not obtain, download, host, index or link to any such content.
3. Licence
YendleBox is free of charge. There is no paid tier and no account. Subject to these terms you are granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use it on computers you control, for private use.
YendleBox is not open-source software. Its source is not licensed for reuse. You may not sell or charge for it, redistribute it commercially, present it as your own work, remove or alter its notices, or decompile or reverse-engineer it except to the extent the law expressly permits regardless of these terms.
All rights not expressly granted remain with the YendleBox Development Team.
4. Your files, your responsibility
You supply your own content and you assume all risk for it. You are solely responsible for having the legal right to every file you use with YendleBox — games, disc images, BIOS files, firmware, saves and artwork — under the law that applies to you.
Copyright law differs by country, and in most places copying or downloading a game you do not own is unlawful. Using YendleBox gives you no rights to any third-party content and is not permission to do anything you could not otherwise lawfully do.
We do not monitor, control, or have any knowledge of what you use YendleBox with. You use YendleBox entirely at your own risk.
5. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless the YendleBox Development Team from and against any claim, demand, loss, liability, damage, cost or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or relating to: (a) your use of YendleBox; (b) any file or content you use with it; (c) your breach of these terms; or (d) your violation of any law or of any third party’s rights.
6. Third-party software and services
YendleBox works alongside independent software and services that we do not make, control or distribute — including RetroArch and other emulators, Sunshine and Moonlight, and the optional online services listed in the Privacy Policy.
Each is governed by its own licence and terms, and obtaining and using them lawfully is your responsibility. We make no promise that any of them will work, keep working, or remain available, and we are not responsible for them or for anything they do.
7. Names and trademarks
Console, game, service and company names appear descriptively, to identify hardware, software and services you may own or use. All such names and marks belong to their respective owners.
YendleBox is an independent project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or approved by Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft, Sega, Valve, Nvidia, Google, or any other rights holder.
8. Your responsibilities
You are responsible for keeping your own backups of anything you care about; for how you configure YendleBox; for anyone you allow onto your network or invite into a lobby; and for complying with the law.
9. Network access
By default YendleBox serves your library to your local network without a password, so the phone remote, marquee, Retro Lobby and Android app can reach it. Anyone on your network can therefore browse your library and launch games on your PC.
Settings → Network access → Only this PC disables that. Configuring this is your decision and your responsibility. Do not expose YendleBox to the public internet; it is not designed or secured for that.
10. Profiles and time limits are not security
Profiles, the settings PIN, the bedtime and the daily limit are conveniences for a shared machine. They are not security controls and not parental controls. Anyone with access to the computer can bypass them, and the application itself reports them as unenforceable.
Do not rely on them to restrict what anyone plays or for how long. They do not replace supervision or your operating system’s own controls.
11. No warranty
YENDLEBOX IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”, WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW WE DISCLAIM ALL IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, QUIET ENJOYMENT AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant that YendleBox will be uninterrupted or error-free, that it will work with your hardware, emulators or files, that any progress reading, playtime figure, achievement or metadata will be accurate, or that any defect will be corrected.
12. Data loss
Your library, settings and saves live on your own equipment, and keeping independent backups is your responsibility. We are not liable for any loss, corruption or unavailability of data, saves, progress, achievements or playtime records, however caused.
13. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, SAVE FILES, PROGRESS, GOODWILL OR PROFITS, ARISING FROM OR CONNECTED WITH YENDLEBOX, WHETHER IN CONTRACT, TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE) OR OTHERWISE, AND EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
Because YendleBox is supplied free of charge, our total aggregate liability to you for all claims is limited to zero dollars ($0). These limits apply even if a limited remedy is found to have failed of its essential purpose.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of sections 11 to 13 may not apply to you, and nothing here affects your mandatory statutory rights as a consumer.
14. No support or updates
YendleBox is a personal project provided free of charge. There is no service level and no obligation on us to provide support, fixes or updates. We may change, suspend or discontinue it, in whole or in part, at any time and without notice.
15. Retro Lobby
If you use Retro Lobby, do not use it to harass anyone, distribute unlawful material, stream content you have no right to share, or place unreasonable load on the service. Only invite people you trust: a guest is sending input to software running on your machine.
We may limit, suspend or withdraw access to the rendezvous and relay service at any time. What that service handles is set out in the Privacy Policy.
16. Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top will change, and continuing to use YendleBox after a change means you accept the updated terms. If you do not, uninstall it.
17. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maine, United States, and the state and federal courts located in Maine have non-exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute. If you are a consumer, you keep the benefit of any mandatory protections in the country where you live.
If any provision is found unenforceable, it will be applied to the minimum extent necessary and the remainder continues in force. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between us about YendleBox.
